Water pumps are a versatile mechanical equipment with a wide range of applications. They are widely used in various sectors such as petroleum, chemical, power metallurgy, mining, shipbuilding, light industry, agriculture, civil and national defense, and play an important role in the national economy. According to statistics, China's pump production reaches 5.256 million units. The electric energy consumption of pumps accounts for over 21% of the national electricity consumption. Therefore, vigorously reducing the energy consumption of pumps is of great significance for energy conservation. In recent years, our pump industry has designed and developed many efficient and energy-saving products, such as IHF, CQB, FSB, UHB and other pump products, which have played a positive role in reducing pump energy consumption.

However, in various fields of the national economy, due to unreasonable selection, many pumps are in an unreasonable operating condition, with low operating efficiency and a waste of a large amount of energy. Some pumps cannot be used due to unreasonable selection, or their maintenance costs increase, resulting in low economic benefits. It can be seen that reasonable pump selection is also of great significance for energy conservation. The so-called reasonable pump selection refers to the comprehensive consideration of technical and economic indicators such as investment and operating costs of pump units and pumping stations, so as to comply with the principles of economy, safety, and applicability. Specifically, there are several aspects: it is necessary to meet the requirements of using flow and head, that is, the operating point of the pump (the intersection point of the device characteristic curve and the pump performance curve) should be kept in an efficient range of operation, which not only saves power but also is not easy to damage the components. The selected water pump should not only have small volume, light weight, low cost, but also have good characteristics and high efficiency. It has good anti cavitation performance, which can reduce the excavation depth of the pump house and prevent cavitation of the water pump, ensuring smooth operation and long service life. Building a pump station based on the selected water pump reduces project investment and operating costs.
