submersible aquarium filter

Product introduction

The commonly used filters on the market now include upper filter, bottom filter, built-in filter, external filter, drip filter, etc.

Below, the editor will share with you the advantages and disadvantages of each filter.

1. Upper filter

The upper filter is placed on the top of the Aquarium. It is the most common and original filter. Because it looks like a long box, it is often called a filter box.

The filter box is paved with filter materials with physical, chemical and biological properties such as filter cotton, activated carbon and biochemical ball from top to bottom. The water is pumped to the filter box by the pump, filtered by filter materials such as filter cotton, activated carbon and biochemical ball, and then flows into the Aquarium from the outlet of the filter box. The outlet can usually adjust the water flow direction.

Advantages: make full use of the remaining space on the top of the Aquarium, occupy no space, daily maintenance, operation and cleaning are very convenient, and the price is low.

Disadvantages: Not very attractive, and the filtering range is not large, and regular cleaning and replacement of filtering materials are required.

Evaluation: Suitable for first-time aquarium enthusiasts to choose and use.

2. Built-in filter

The built-in filter is generally constructed as a black box, which can be round or square. The built-in water pump, filter cotton, biochemical cotton and other filter materials are placed inside the Aquarium.

The water enters the interior of the built-in filter through the pores on the filter, and is physically and biologically filtered through filter cotton, biochemical cotton and other filter materials. The filtered water flows back to the Aquarium through the pump, so as to achieve the purpose of water quality filtration in a cycle.

Advantages: It does not affect aesthetics and occupies a small space.

Disadvantage: Less water treatment, best used for small water bodies.

Evaluation: More suitable for breeding small fish.

3. External filter

There are two types of external filters available on the market: external bucket filters and external filters.

External bucket filter: its working principle is to make the water level difference of the Aquarium enter the filter. After the water is filtered by the filter material, the clean water is pumped back into the Aquarium with the help of the power of the internal pump.

Advantages: It does not occupy the internal space of the aquaculture water body, does not affect the interior landscaping of the Aquarium, and can be equipped with external filters large enough to give full play to the filtering effect.

Disadvantages: The price is relatively expensive, installation is not easy, and cleaning and maintenance are complex, requiring the filter to be disassembled and cleaned. In addition, since the external filter is generally a closed box, it works continuously. Once it stops, the Nitrifying bacteria inside it will die easily, so special attention should be paid. At present, this type of filter is most popular among breeding enthusiasts.

Evaluation: It is relatively convenient to use and suitable for various aquaculture water bodies.

External filter: its working principle is to use a Submersible pump to pump water into the filter tank, and the water is filtered through the filter media in the filter tank, so as to purify the water quality.

Advantages: This filter is easy to use and can be directly removed from the filter tank to clean the filter material. In addition, the water falling from the filter is in full contact with the air, which can bring sufficient oxygen to Aquarium fish and aquatic plants.

Disadvantage: The filtering function is average.

Evaluation: Due to its weak filtering function, it is suitable for small-scale aquaculture water bodies.

4. Drip flow filter

Drip flow filters are most suitable for setting in fish ponds for breeding koi. Their principle is similar to that of natural waterfalls. The filter is divided into several layers from top to bottom, each with different filter materials, such as filter cotton, biochemical cotton, biochemical balls, zeolite, etc.

The water pump pushes the water to the highest position of the filter. The water passes through the filter cotton for physical filtration from top to bottom, then through the biochemical ball for biological filtration, and zeolite for chemical filtration. After being filtered by various filter materials, the water directly falls into the Aquarium and circulates like this.

Advantages: On the one hand, the falling water fully contacts with the air, which can bring enough oxygen to Aquarium fish and water plants. On the other hand, each filter layer of trickle filter is open, which helps Nitrifying bacteria on each layer of filter material make full use of oxygen in the air to achieve the maximum survival.

Disadvantages: High noise, not very attractive, and high price; Heat dissipation is fast, which is not conducive to thermal insulation of Aquarium or fish pond in winter.

Evaluation: It can be used in fish ponds and Aquarium, and is suitable for breeding large fish. The carbon dioxide in the water volatilizes greatly, so it is not suitable for Aquarium breeding aquatic plants.

TIPS

To clean and maintain the filter, it is necessary to maintain regular operation. Except for special situations such as power outages, do not easily stop its operation. The parts that undergo physical filtration in the filter can be cleaned frequently, while the parts that undergo chemical and biological filtration cannot be cleaned frequently. Simple surface cleaning can only be carried out every one month or so.

Do not use detergent, detergent or boiling water to clean the physical filtration part or the chemical and biochemical part. If necessary, use Potassium permanganate and other drugs to clean, so as to kill bacteria and parasites on the filter equipment. In addition, it is necessary to regularly pay attention to whether the filter is blocked or leaking, and whether the water pump is faulty.
